RYE Bread Rising |
Hope the bread turns out the way I expect..this is the second rise...Have to wait for it to rise and then punch it down again, put it on a sheet and wait for it to rise again, then into the oven... usually Saturday is the day for beans, but I felt like this "Comfort" food today..Hope everyone is staying warm and toasty, especially here in NC where the weather is usually not this brutal.
UPDATE:
The Rye bread wasn't too bad in taste etc. I wish I had made a larger loaf, this one went too quickly!, :o( I'll have to make another real soon. This one just wet the appetite for more :o)
Your dinner sounds so good, Ginny. They are predicting more snow for us today and tomorrow with blizzard like conditions tomorrow. This is definitely a good time of year for a hot comfort meal. Hope you're staying warm!
ReplyDeleteDaisy, forwarned makes me forarmed :o)...I'm going to be like the bear :o).Ginny
ReplyDeleteGinny, your Sat dinner looks good cooking on the stove and that rye bread would have disappeared here fast too as its Grenvile's favorite. Do you plan to post your recipe? We are not getting wnos here on the VA eastern shore, just an all-day rain event on Sunday so I will be making a pot of butternut squash soup and Grenville is baking bread and we're decorating our tree.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice your soup sounds good too! I love soups, teas and everything that spells comfort on these cold and deary days..My Rye bread isn't anything special, just out of an old cookbook, and can be found anywhere.
ReplyDeleteGinny
Another very fine meal. It's hard to believe that the vast majority of people buy processed boxed food or eat out isn't it. There is nothing like a good home cooked meal.:)
ReplyDeleteMmmm, the whole house smells good when soup is on the stove and bread is in the oven. I may have to follow your example; we're having a dreary gray day here, the rain just got noticeably thicker, to add to the several inches of snow already on the ground.
ReplyDeleteMr. H. fast foods wears out fast here! There is nothing like Home cooking! You know what's in your food and how it's prepared. If I drop something I wash it off, who knows what someone else does!
ReplyDeleteLadydi, there is no place like home! especially when it smells like home :o) and especially on a dreary day the smell of good food cooking :o) It makes all seem right with the world. :o) Ginny
Oh, how wonderful on a cold day! Blessings,Kathleen
ReplyDeleteThere's just nothing in the world like a good pot of "comfort" simmering on the stove. I bet it smells good too!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, it was wonderful :o) and one that I didnt have to keep jumping up to :o)
ReplyDeleteMama bug, amen to that one, and yes it did smell good and warmed up the atmosphere of the cold. Ginny
