Say hello to Cecil the 4th Generation |
Here he is finally! Labor with this one was tough, now he is here and looks like he may be a handful ..he's a big guy already ,at least his Mama can cook , and if he is anything like his Father, grandfather (funny to realize my son as grandfather :o) and great grandfather he is a good eater ...Can't wait to see him in person and I know he will look entirely different, they change every day until they come into their own. I can still see both of his parents in his face even though he is just a baby still! My oh My, we have been blessed to be here to see him...I think I'll go pick some greens to celebrate his arrival again :o)
UPDATE:
Took just about 10 minutes for Cecil Sr. and I to pick these two pans of Greens :o)
In no time to wash them (twice because we "cropped" the leaves :o) and into the pot. A nice batch of my fried corn bread with Jalapeno peppers, onions and chopped country ham (fried to season greens, which I only used a little they were good enough! The joys of eating greens from your own land at our age is better than s** :o) (well almost). hehehe
Your great-grandson is quite a cutie, Ginny. :D Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYour greens must be doing really well to pick so many in such a short time. I'm glad they are there for you to enjoy. :-)
Daisy, we think we are in Green Heaven :o)
ReplyDeleteWow look at all those greens, pretty amazing for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful child...adorable.
Mr H. We are more surprised than you are :o) We thought we had lost out! , We are eating them like they are going out of style. they are so tender it's amazing!
ReplyDeleteI remember people saying that they don't eat them until the frost hits them..Well, these are still in the cold at night maybe that's why they are so good. Next week I'm putting the Collards in the freezer before the heat and bugs come ( I ran out of jars :o(
Can a boy be pretty? 'Cause he sure is pretty ;-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!!! He's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMelodye, thanks for the compliments, We ae both happy to have been here to greet him :o) Picture taking is in a hurry..they are so far away..

ReplyDeleteAnnie's Granny,
ReplyDeleteI think for a boy it's " he's handsome" :o)... no matter which, both fit :o) Both his parents are "good looking" and he's my grandson so what else is he to look but good :o)...(aint no conceit in my family I have it all :o)
That's one handsome little man! Glad you still got greens coming. I've got 4 rows of potatoes up now and looking good.
ReplyDeleteFour generations! Very nice, Miss Ginny. You and Cecil have passed along some fabulous genes for the family to carry on.
ReplyDeleteLadydi, thank you for the kind words, just as long as you remember the good looks and smarts come from my side of the family :o) All the dumb stuff comes from Cecil's genes :o).
ReplyDeleteCOngrats Ginny to you and Cecil and to the baby's parents. He is an adorable little guy. We will become grandparents for the 2nd time late this summer with the pending birth of a grandaughter. You are right that they do change so fast.
ReplyDeleteps. the greens looked great and boy must have tasted even better with fresh cornbread. We expect to be travelling to Bryson CIty, NC in mid-May - anywhere near you place?
Beatrice, Bryson City as far as I know is way on the other side of Smokey Mountains. I've never been there either.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! What a blessing :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm so hungry for greens I've been nibblinb in my tiny salad crops*wink*
Yours look wonderful, we can't wait to have our first Spring greens.
Blessings,
Kelle
Kellle I'm going to try my hand at planting some salad greens like lettuce, and a couple more I can't think of names now...I like making a salad in the summer with grill fixings ...something quick and easy..Don't worry your greens will get here soon enough and work you putting them away :o)
