Just a look at my Garlic still growing , it was planted September 2010 :o) I understand I have to wait until about May for their Harvest ..No need in saying I'm really excited and I bet they will be good and fat :o)

What good is some greens without some Cornbread :o) this is the Country kind, fried and laid to the side :o) There was no meat for lunch! Who needs it with these delicious greens. Maybe I'll have cornbread with grits and Country Ham for breakfast :o) just the thought makes me Smile. I haven't been to the "Side Garden" in a couple of weeks, but I was assured by Cecil that those Collards were thriving as well. Oh Happy Day when Greens are growing on my land. :o) This is about half of the Corn bread recipe frying up , of course I add my little "Kick" to them :o)...

Those greens and cornbread are making me hungry! Post your fried cornbread recipe for us Ginny; it's so pretty and golden brown.
ReplyDeleteMama-bug, I use Autry Corn meal mix and the recipe is on the side of the bag...I add my little "kicks" , chopped Jalapeno pepper and onion. That gives the bread a little different flavor and heat.

ReplyDeleteDaisy, we were watching them from afar and finally I decided to get closer to see what I had..and once I took a look they had to go into the pot :o)..This was the first greens eaten for this season from the greens and they were encouraging :o)..
ReplyDeleteGinny, since we don't have Autry Corn Meal here, could you please post your recipe? I love my cornbread brown and crispy (I bake mine in a heated cast iron pan), and I love it with jalapenos!

ReplyDeletePaula, they were a welcome taste for me :o) I have jars canned from 2010 that I still don't have to open. I've been trying to eat out of the freezer first..Since the jars don't need anything else :o) I think I'm being good and frugal :o)
