Will I ever get it straight! There has got to be a better way of taking the warp off the board without getting a tangled mess like this....I'm ignorant how to proceed to prevent this mess..but I have the warp done at school that I will watch teacher take off so I can do it right.I've spend the last couple of days..."untangling".
Cecil thinks I'm very patient ..( I think I'm very stubborn), it must be done and I have to do it...

ReplyDeleteIf you are taking the warp off the loom, does that mean you've finished the piece? As you know, I don't know a thing about weaving but am enjoying watching you. I think you are amazing to have even started this new craft. Just keep those pictures coming, 'cause this is probably as close as I'll ever get to seeing you in "action".

Aw, Ginny, I'm sorry that it isn't going smoothly. I agree with Cecil that you are very patient indeed. There's no way I can help as I know nothing of this. I am fascinated watching you through your pictures though. I probably would have given up long ago, so I admire how you have kept trying. Maybe the teacher can help you through it. I hope so!! If not, at least you know you gave it your all. By the way, instead of the word "stubborn," I would say you are "determined" instead! :D
ReplyDeleteDaisy Yeah! Determined does sound better :o) and I have one darn thread that misbehaved not bad for all the rest that didn't :o)..I have to fix it this morning , we go for the flu shots today and I might not feel like it later..
ReplyDeleteNo Jilly, I took the warp of the warping board....and then warped the loom (which is the beginning of weaving a pattern).you will get the hang of it watching me make the mistakes :o) Ginny
Ginny, are you chaining your warp as you take it off the warping board? (Like a crochet chain of the entire warp - keeps everything under more control.) Are you warping front to back or back to front? If back to front, are you completely winding your warp onto the back beam leaving just enough to get through the heddles and sley through the reed and then tie on the front?
ReplyDeleteDeborah, I did the chain step taking the warp off the board and I started by warping the loom front to back! I was as careful as I could be, but the obvious happened...I got thru it but it shouldn't have taken that route, Sandra (teacher) will straighten me out with it Weaving night...Ginny
ReplyDeleteDorothy, I don't think I understand throughly about being tagged ...I'll drop by as soon as I can...Ginny
ReplyDeleteWhen I tried warping front to back, I ended up with a huge mess, same as yours. Margaret got me to try warping back to front and it was much easier and neater. She has a step by step on her website, http://www.heritageyarns.com.
