This year the Persimmon Harvest is very low compared to the past two years! First year the harvest was 18, the second year it was 17, this year it's only 5 but these 5 are larger than the first two years (according to Cecil) to me they don;t look any larger..At least I did get a few to get through the tough Summer we had this year...and it beats nothing. I still have some pulp left from last year that I need to do something with...
Love those fruit our neighbours tree is just starting to ripen we usually have a few.
ReplyDeleteBut 5 is better than none........it has been such a hard summer on every one it seems. Here's looking forward to a good summer next year, right? Have a good weekend. blessings, Kathleen
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad that you only got 5 this year, however they do look pretty darn good!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had a persimmon tree! I've only eaten store bought fruit. I bet they'll be delicious.

ReplyDeleteit's a good tasting fruit once they are ripe, it's the wait that kills me :o)
Eggs in my pocket
5 is better than none and I'm glad Cecil doesn't care for them..I hope they taste as good as they look.
Mrs Pickles ..that's probably as much of them as I needed this year..since I already have pulp from last year that I need to use.

yes, and I'm happy to have it , wish I had bought two when I bought the one..:o( didn't know I'd be so happy our it would grow well here...
They look great, we hope to purchase a few American persimmon trees this spring...and then we will only have to wait 8 or 10 years before we too can line our counter with those wonderful looking fruits.:)
ReplyDeleteThey look pretty all lined up there in the window like that. Have a nice weekend, Ginny! :)

ReplyDeleteI don't think you have to wait that long! Unless your buying very small trees. Ours was about 5 or 6 feet tall when we first got it ..(it was expensive) but it fruited the first year :o). Still think we should have bought two:o(
Daisy, they do look pretty and maybe they are larger than last year..maybe that's why just a few compared. It was a hot dry summer that it had to live through.
ReplyDeleteWe have a native persimmon in the woods and today I managed to get a small quantity. Would love to know how you make your pulp (tutorial, hint, hint?) I put mine through my foley food mill, but the seeds were impossible to work with.
ReplyDeleteLeigh, I have an old fashioned type of "mill" if you can call it that...I showed it on one of my posts. it would get those seeds ...or I would use my "Champion" and it would masticate those seeds into dust..Your Foley should do some good getting them out! just repeat the action...
