After slicing them in the food processor, I layered them on my Pizza sheet :o) and covered each layer with saran wrap..I think I got four or five nice layers..stuck it in the freezer and maybe later today I'll take them out if they are good and frozen and put them into a gallon size zip lock bag..I don't want to use Penny for them, sometimes she doesn't "squeeze" the air out like she is supposed too, I'm very disappointed in it. So I stick with the Zip locks until I can do better.
All that's left are the skins that I could use if I were to dye something in my weaving or spinning..So you see everything can be used, with the gifts we have. |
Looks good, Ginny. I'm going to have to chop some of my sweet onions soon, they don't keep for more than 4-5 weeks without refrigeration. I'm running out of freezer space, thanks to my new air sucker toy.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you got a pretty good onion harvest there Ginny! I have yet to freeze onions. I'm too lazy to freeze any today! I just cure them and hang them in the basement.
ReplyDeleteThats a whole lot of onions. I have never thought about freezing them. Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteAnnie's Granny, My "air sucker" works sporadically :o(
ReplyDeleteI waited a long time for it and it's such a disappointment.
Robin,I lost my basement moving to NC and did what they call "downsized" wish I hadn't "downsized" I had so many places and spaces in that house :o( I miss it.
I could have had chickens again:o( I wouldn't say your lazy, just maybe tired today. We are "Farmers" ;o)
Mrs. Pickles, if you stick around your bound to learn something from me and my blog friends. here you never get too old to learn or do. :o)
Oh my goodness, Ginny. My eyes are starting to water just looking at all those onions! I'd have been crying for sure with all those onions around. Looks great! You'll appreciate the work you did today later on.
ReplyDeleteDaisy, it wasn't bad at all , I put them into the food processor to slice and then onto the tray and cover with suran wrap till the next batch so the onions never had a chance :o)
