These are my Red Cabbage growing nicely in the side garden...The are also bedded down a little with some hay :o) Maybe a close up would show them better..
This video (it goes quickly) is showing the growing of the new Cabbage /Collards hybrid greens..I've never planted or eaten them before. When we went to buy some Collard plants ( I was afraid my seedlings wouldn't do well) we couldn't find anything but Cabbage/ Collards.
The new hybrids are really looking good and tasty...but lo and behold my collards in the "P" garden have taken off like little jets :o)...(That means they are growing well :o) I'll show them another time.
Here is a couple of the ones I took a picture of in the Side Garden..I was hoping the video would work so you could get a good glimpse of them all..
Your side garden looks great. It is nice to see things growing in November :)
ReplyDeleteLooking good Ginny. That hybrid sounds interesting, you will have to let us know how it cooks up.
ReplyDeletethe cabbages certainly look well

ReplyDeletethe side garden is on the top of a slight hill and tough for me to walk across, I'm always afraid of falling..and yet it's one of the best gardens I have :o).
Mr H.
I was sick I couldn't get collard plants and didn't trust myself with just having the seeds. Now I'm glad both are doing so well, I can't wait to see what they taste like
I'll let you all know soon.
Cathy @ home
I hope they taste as good as they did last year. Hubby fell in love with Red Cabbage so that's why I planted them this year :o)
Your fall garden looks great Ginny! My fall plants at the plots are the pits and I was late getting the cold frame planted. I did most of it today. My spinach is trying it's best. Hopefully, I will get something out of it.
ReplyDeleteRobin,
ReplyDeletegee whiz! just keep on trying ..I'm glad you encouraged me to keep up with the Boc choy! I still have a few meals of it in the garden :o) it's delicious and a quick and easy dish to prepare...I've tried Spinach but don't seem to have much luck with it either.
Those plants look really pretty growing there, Ginny. They look like they are doing well. I'm sure you will enjoy them. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Robin, your plants look great. We planted our cold frame today too. We've had lots of freezing nights. I just don't know how things will turn out. You're look very promising!
ReplyDeleteDaisy,
ReplyDeleteour Summer garden was eaten up with the bugs, but it looks like the fall garden will outshine it by far.we are already making plans for harvesting :o)
Jody
I'm tickled that the gardens are doing so well, it took a lot of energy out of me to plant it, now I'm pleased as the dickens with how well it's doing. I'm hoping the freezer can hold a little more :o)
Oh, you've got them mulched! You're ahead of me. Your cabbage collards are hybrids? Mine said "an old southern variety," so I'm hoping that means open pollinated!
ReplyDeleteLeigh, I'm just going by what the little tabs say! I know from nothing about them..that's all I could find in the way of collards ..so now I'm told that a guy in Virginia has five acres of them :o) I'm glad I have the little I have..I think the mulch keeps down weeds, and helps keep the H2O in the ground for the roots.
