Today I didn't forget you!

Beef Roast cooked in Beer and Spices tossed with it's own Gravy :o)
I've made Roast Beef before, but today I wanted to try a different approach! Besides all  my spices I thought I'd try adding beer to it instead of my beef broth...I'm glad I did..it was delicious...the beer had been sitting in the fridge since we were ill (last year when the grand kids came) , I left it so it would be there when they returned.
From now on I'm going to use what ever they leave for my cooking..no need in it going to waste or just being less room for my Soda's :o)  The roast was so tender I didn't need a knife or my teeth :o) I cooked the beef in one pot then took it out and made the gravy..then poured it over the beef in another and kept it warm in the oven until everything else was ready..the gravy was so good...yummy

This is Okra and Tomato's with spices and cooked down in my Homemade Chicken Broth..it's not one of my daughters favorite :o(   no matter more for me :o) and Cecil could care less if she didn't want any ...More for him :o)
Below is my tasty Rice with Spices, . Since I've been making it this way
it seems I never have too many leftovers of it, and it's one dish daughter likes with nothing but it. :o)
Now am I back on the "Good List"  Showing you all this good food for today?
You can thank Cecil who reminded  me while I was cooking. There is no new dessert ( there is still Cake left), and I'm finished cooking for the day..

You're always on my good list!

I'll just have to enjoy the foods you post, as I'm into my "weird cooking" mode. That's what happens the last two weeks in AZ, as I try to use up all the stuff in the freezer and pantry before we head home. I'm now out of flour, and down to a roast, a whole chicken and about five pounds of hamburger! The cornstarch is gone, too. There won't be much variety in the next few meals.

Granny, your still blessed with all that meat, its my main staff :o) but as far as making gravy , it seems your plum out of luck :o) you could buy (bad word) bread and make sandwiches.

Ok Ginny, I think you're gonna have to write yourself a cookbook with all these good recipes! Looking at your photos has made me hungry again!

Yes, we are buying (yuk) bread now. The roast is being saved for making hash (Mr. Granny's favorite) and sandwiches for the trip home. That saves us some time, as we can eat and drive. I do have a container of roast beef gravy in the freezer, so we'll actually get three meals from the roast.

Saving gravy is something that Hubby has been doing lately, he swears with each pot it's the best he's ever had...when I question him "what about the last time" he says "that was different". I think he just likes gravy especially with a biscuit...

I've never tried cooking a roast in beer before, but I have used apple cider - delicious! If *someone* leaves a can of beer here I will try it sometime.

I think my beer was going on two years old :o), Cecil and I don't drink anything with Alcolol because of all the medicine we take, A dinner guest brought me a bottle of Yellow tail wine as a gift and I have been using it to marinate my meat and it makes a big difference in taste.

Hi GInny, now I know how to use those few bottles of beer that are in the fridge since last summer. Grenville found out he had a couple of ulcers and was told by the dr. to avoid alcohol which he's been doing...so good ways to use that beer are always welcome. Thanks

Ohiofarmgirl, The roast cooked in beer is totally surprising! I think it helped to do a good job on the gravy too! From now on that's a recipe for me.

Beatrice, I'm sorry your hubby has ulcers, certain foods and stress will certainly aggravate them, Try to keep him calm and contented...Argue with yourself first :o)
