Hot Dogs and Homemade Kraut anyone :o)

Finally I'm able to show you what our hot dogs look like with our homemade sauerkraut :o)... Each time I've made them we are so hungry to gobble them up I don't think about getting the camera until it's too late (or they are more than half eaten :o)... This time I remembered early enough...Just in case you don't recognize it..it's a hot dog (Nathan's, we used to use only Sabrettes, but somehow lost the taste for them, this year it's Nathan's) anyhow, they are on the bun, mustard applied then HOMEMADE Sauerkraut :o) then sprinkling of crushed red peppers ;o)  they are delicious...but to be truthful, next time I won't use the dark green cabbage leaves,
I found them to be a little too tough to really enjoy.

Looks like quite a feast, Ginny! I bet they didn't last long. :-)

We just love home-made sauerkraut around here! Did you make it the old way by putting it in a crock or glass container and let it ferment for 4-6 weeks or a shorter version? I have always made mine the old way and have never had a problem with any of it being tough

Daisy, it was a feast and knowing the kraut was homemade made it even better :o)

Robin, I let it ferment for a shorter time ( not knowing any better) I had added too much salt and decided to rinse and cook it after 2 weeks, but it's still good..Next time I'll show a little more patience :o)

I rarely see hot dogs longer than the bun, Miss Ginny!

ladydi, sometimes I leave most of the bun for the birds they have to have a snack too :o) besides it fills me up too quickly..

Ginnie, looks good enough to eat and of course that's what you and Cecil did. Glad you got the photos first this time!
