Keifer Pears on the March

Just in case your wondering what I'm doing
in the next few days ( or week)  I'll be sweating it out peeling and freezing and maybe making preserves...First Cousin had the desire to "help me" when it was time..
I sure hope she isn't busy..my hands could use the help...even with the peeler my hands get sore and bruised (Plavix causes stress marks).  When we planted our Pear Trees we were hoping that we would have enough to make preserves...with the diabetes we have to be more careful of that ...so cobblers began to take over the Pears.. I don't know
what other recipes I can use to make good use of the Pears.. Maybe someone would like to make an exchange , in the old days we called it barter...Pears for Pecans :o) Pears for Figs, Pears for Peaches..  This is canning season and I know some of us are being overwhelmed with the Harvest.. Thank God for the harvest...especially when the table runneth over...(there are still more on the tree, the deer started raiding, so we made sure we got the most...they will continue to ripen as they sit..gives me more tome to work with them..
Harris Teeter had milk on sale today and I made some cheese with one bottle and I'll made the other in the morning...I'm a little tired, after all I'm almost :o) as old as Annie's Granny and she doesn't know when to stop working.

I made some cheese with Jalapeno peppers tonight, just to see how it would taste (I'm looking for a Jack cheese recipe)..I'll make more plain Mozzarella  cheese in the morning. I even have some tomato's to put away...Yep! it's canning season and no time to vacation..

You'd better watch what you say, or I'm going to tell everyone you're old enough to be my mother!!!

That's a lot of pears. My son brought me a small box of peaches tonight and begged for a cobbler, so guess what I'm doing tomorrow.

Now that is a lot of pears! I wished I lived closer so I could do some trading with you or help with all that peeling at least! Don't work too hard!

Annie's Granny, your just bad to the bone :o( It's a good thing you have some peaches to keep you busy, maybe you could hum while you work < that ought too keep your mouth shut awhile. I love your Son.

Mrs. Pickles, Over night I was bargained with some tomatoes :o)..you can never have too many tomato's. I planted plenty but the slugs gave me a fit..and we had to pick the Pears off the tree, the Deer were coming , funny how they know exactly when they are ready.

Engineeredgarden,
I have a recipe for Pear Butter in my Ball Canning book .I don't know if it's different from yours.

Humming would certainly be better than the soft whistling I tend to do out in the garden. Lately I've been sucking in gnats :-(

Paula, I've got a recipe in the Ball Book I think I'll try, it sounds pretty tasty on some Rye Toast in the morning.

Now that is a bunch of pears! Looks like you have a ton of work ahead of you. That is a good problem to have.

My mom used to make pickled pears when their trees runneth over. They were pretty tasty.

Kris , my problem is finding more recipes :o) and then finding more storage..that new freezer has less room now..:o)

Ladydi, that sounds like a nice recipe for Pears, worth a try this year since the harvest is good.

Beautiful pears! Someone gave me a bag of Keiffer pears last fall and I made Pear Bread. I liked it enough to plant my own tree. Just one pear now, but maybe more next year!

Louise.
Give that Tree a couple of years and you'll have more Pears than you will find recipes for :o) Blessings with it.
