Pears all accounted for :o)just one bag left

Yesterday Cecil and I worked hard and heavy whew! What a job we did.. You see the table is now empty of pears except one bag that a neighbor wasn't home.
This years Pear yield was terrific and we didn't start too soon, it seemed they started ripening all at once..  Our total yield went something like this..
29 quart bags with 1 1/2 lbs each = 53 1/2 lbs for small cobblers..
Plus 6 bags about 5 lbs each to neighbors = about 30 lbs.  Total about 83 1/2 lbs  WOW  Those two Dwarf Pear Trees did a wonderful job this year...We are so grateful. I have some Pears in the dryer  that I haven't accounted for yet.  I also have ground Pears in the fridge to finish making "Pear Butter" today.  I tried the old strainer for the pear butter , but it was too slow..so I pulled out the "Champion" < she worked her motor hot for me...This year I'm going to replace all the things that baby needs..she is worth her weight in gold and then some...All I needed with her was to wash the pears and stick it in her top...she chewed it up like nothing flat. I had to re-arrange things a bit to get the pears into the large freezer..you can see the Pears on the Left side and there are more behind them..I wasn't going to take them out just to take a picture..and yesterday I was too busy trying to get them in before picture taking. The new little freezer is already stuffed .. I have to do some organizing. First cousin came to help, but she was already
tired from her own labors, so I gave her an easy task this time. She was fascinated with "Champion" and "Apple (Pear, Potato) Peeler" and got pretty good operating it :o) To her it was fun, and cool. Those hands weren't used to those doings.

Congrats on the huge pear harvest. Isn't it awesome to have your freezer filled to capacity with goodies. Looks like you have been blessed too.

It's hard to find good help these days, ain't it? Sounds like champion makes things quite easy. Can you post about it sometime? I'd love to see it...
Also, your sweet potatoes look great so far! (I'm seriously behind on reading other blog's.....)

I remember years ago when we used to rent lockers. Back in those days we bought our beef and pork whole, then had it cut, wrapped and frozen, so we needed bigger freezers than I would have at home. I'm beginning to think I need a locker, and I don't even have a beef or a pig to put in it!

You definitely put in a good days work! I can't believe that you got all of them done in one day!

We have to organize all of our refrigerators soon....before it gets out of control! I was hoping today...but, that's not going to happen.

I want to see your "Champion". What is it??? I'm clueless :)

Can I stop over for some of that ice cream I see in your freezer?? Yum, that's the only store bought brand that I will buy!

Kris, my cup runneth over..Who would have thought that two little Dwarf Pear Trees would have yielded such a bounty :o) I tired to make use of each one.

Mrs Pickles yes indeed we worked hard and long, I don't think I have much butt left :o)

EG.. I tried to use the strainer for the pears, but that didn't work..so I got the "Champion" out and she went through those pears like white on rice :o)

Anne's Granny, I don't remember anything about lockers , that proves your older than me :o) hehehe
We both should have bought bigger freezers. :o( I even had to send Cecil to by more jars, I ran out of them and thought I had so many ..glad I have something to put into them.the harvest is good this year.

Robin, We certainly worked our butts off, I can even feel my butt muscles before I sit :o(.. I'll post the "Champion" again since a couple asked. Yes, you may have some ice cream with some " Pear Butter" over it :o) Only if your a good girl and organize to stimulate me to do the same :o)

My goodness, Ginny. You and Cecil have been busy bees today for sure. That freezer looks pretty full to me. You are going to be eating well this winter. I'm glad to hear your pears did so well for you this year. :-)

Daisy, the Pears did do well this year and we tried to save and share as many as we could..sometimes when there is plenty one year the next is famine :o( so we tried to make hay (Pears) while the Sun was shinning :o)
