A Blessing in disguise!

A couple of weeks ago I told you all that I had some business to take care of and I'd let you know about it later in another post...(The day I got up real early and when Cecil treated me to some crabs from the Farmers market)
Well, do you also remember when we had the gas leak and had such a commotion with the fire truck and gas company that caused the neighbors some excitement? That day I had my two girls visiting and I thought what a drag for this to happen when we don't get to spend much time together...well , that incident really turned out to be a blessing! We had to replace the gas logs because a valve was leaking there it was a Vented log set
we never got any heat from it , all the heat went up the chimney so I kept a marble looking board over it :o( it was totally useless to us...The guy from the gas company told us we were better off with "Ventless log set" that's when they close off the opening (flue) up the chimney and the heat goes into the room...We decided to give it a try.

Needless to say, we had it done and it throws the heat right into the room..it is so comfy for us now , we just love it and wonder why the heck we didn't know about it sooner..come to find out we weren't the only ones ignorant of the fact. It takes the morning chill off so quickly...and it's almost like having a wood burning fireplace without the mess or work..So the gas leak was really a blessing in disguise...So I say " You Go God do your stuff".:o)

We were so pleased with it, we decided to put a "Ventless Gas Heater" in my Studio..lets be honest..I usually like to wear my P.J's as long as I like..(sometimes all day when I don't plan to go out). My Studio is a converted garage and that's a separate part of the house. Although we insulated it well, it still wasn't as "toasty" warm as I would have liked...and that's what that early trip was about that morning :o) Say hello to the new "Ventless Gas Heater"in the Studio :o), as I write it's hot in here,we have to learn how to adjust the built in thermostat to my comfort level..I'm so pleased to have it..I'm told it will cut down on the gas bill quite a bit..we notice the furnace doesn't come on as much..So that will  be a blessing also. I repeat myself often. "the incident was "A Blessing in Disguise" :o)

Melodye,
it is nice and toasty in here now :o) I'm so happy with it already. Right now I'm not working on anything and I still have my loom. I need to work on getting this studio in some kind of order..I have a lot of crap in here.:o(

Valerie,
I'm already getting a big kick out of it..this morning it was just a little too warm :o) we will learn to adjust it soon enough. Dad thinks I needed his company in here so he visited for quite a while, looking out the window and exclaiming how comfy it was. :o)

Mrs Pickles,
during my lifetime I've had that experience more than once. :o) It's as toasty as if I'm baking bread :o)

Eggs in my Pocket,
Kathleen wouldn't you know that the weather has changed to warmer the last couple of days. I know I'll be blessed with toasty heat when the really cold weather arrives :o) at least I'm ahead of it.

Robin,
it's like a dream come true, guess that's my Christmas before Thanksgiving :o)

I didn't know that about gas fire places. I guess I can understand the need for the two kinds. Who wants heat with a fire in August? Still to have a fire and no heat in November! That's another story.

Sounds great, Ginny! I don't like being chilled. That will keep you nice and comfy in the winter ahead. :-)

Hey that's great news. What a great discovery. Thankfully nothing exploded! Yikes.

Leigh,
we had a gas heater 63 years ago in our first apartment ..and it had completely slipped our minds..until it was all brought back with the present day events. Gosh, time flies and still things remain in the same stage!!

Daisy,
maybe I'll get something done instead of sitting in front of the computer :o)

Jody,
I smelled Gas the minute I walked in the front door and we all headed straight out the back door ..my girls used their cell phones once we were outside to call it in...quite a day it was.
